Mr Ismail Mallick is a highly experienced Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon, dedicated to providing exceptional, personalised surgical care. With more than 25 years of specialist experience, he is recognised for his expertise in colorectal surgery and advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques, helping patients achieve excellent outcomes with the least invasive approach whenever possible.
Mr Mallick began his specialist surgical training in 1997 and completed his higher specialist training in Colorectal and General Surgery in 2015. His commitment to excellence led him to undertake doctoral research at University College London (UCL), where he was awarded a PhD, followed by an advanced colorectal fellowship at the internationally renowned Cleveland Clinic in the United States.
Since 2015, Mr Mallick has been a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at University Hospitals Dorset, where he manages the full spectrum of colorectal and general surgical conditions. Alongside his NHS practice, he offers private patients timely access to expert assessment, clear advice, and individually tailored treatment plans.
Mr Mallick believes that outstanding surgical care begins with listening. He understands that many patients seek advice at a time of uncertainty or anxiety, and he is committed to ensuring every consultation is unhurried, informative, and reassuring. He takes the time to explain diagnoses, discuss all appropriate treatment options, and support patients in making confident, informed decisions about their care.
Where surgery is required, Mr Mallick specialises in minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques whenever appropriate, with the aim of reducing postoperative pain, minimising scarring, and promoting a faster recovery. His practice combines the latest evidence-based treatments with meticulous surgical technique and compassionate, patient-centred care. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Mallick is actively involved in shaping the future of surgery in the UK. He serves as the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is an Examiner for the College, helping to uphold the highest standards of surgical training and patient care.
Mr Mallick is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. His academic background, international fellowship training, and extensive consultant experience enable him to offer patients the highest standard of modern colorectal and general surgical care. Whether you require expert advice for a new diagnosis, a second opinion, or specialist surgical treatment, Mr Mallick is committed to providing outstanding care with professionalism, compassion, and respect at every stage of your journey.
